couldn’t this be done by simply adding it to the menu bar on the general board? We already have a dice roller that works perfectly, so there shouldn’t need to be much additional coding for it, I wouldn’t think.

You’re right, of course. But here’s the idea behind this…. We wanted to make a dice roller that anyone on the internet can use. We wanted to make it so people not affiliated with this site could use it for their own (possibly offline) games. So we wanted to strip out all of the stuff that is unique to each game. As it stands right now, when you go to the dice roller for one of your games, there is a bunch of game-specific things on there, like users associated with that game. For a public dice roller, you don’t want that.

But yes, you’re essentially right. There should not be much new code that needs to be done. But we would need to modify the existing dice roller so that junk doesn’t show up if you’re using the “public” dice roller. That’s the challenge.

And since we are catering to non-site members here, its extra-low priority.

There was a guy a LONG LONG time ago who was using the dice roller when it didn’t have all that user info stuff in there… This was during RPGnet 1.0 before the big renovation. When the dice roller changed, he was a little unhappy and I promised him I would eventually get this back for him. But man, that’s been YEARS ago. I’m sure he’s moved on by now.
