    Who’s Online

    Players would like to see a list of other players who are currently accessing the site. This could be handled a number of ways, we could keep track of which profiles are currently viewing each board, and then at the bottom of the board page we list the profile names of those people. This option would facilitate the web chat client.

    End Goal Summary:
    Players and GM’s would like the ability to see who is currently online on the site to help communicate better. If we track users based on which pages they are viewing there would be no real need to change the duration of the cookie. Pages could keep a list of players based on activity on the page, keeping a list of link clicks, if no links are clicked wtihin x amount of time (20 mins) then the name vanishes from the list.

    I had kinda hoped we could tie this into the shoutbox somehow. That way, when people see there are others online, even if they are from different games, they can always chat with them. Otherwise, this feature just becomes informational in nature… like “Gee whiz, Donboy is on the site right now”. And without any means of actually contacting the users they see.

    If we implement this, could we please make an anonymous setting in our profile? There are sometimes that I log on and would not want someone knowing because I just want to ninja log.

    were going to want to keep it tied to boards though, does no good if the user sees that Donboy is online, but donboy is only looking at his profile, but fester is trying to chat with him on the GDB
